Open Doors founders Ruth and Hugo Tschudin and the reason behind Dogfest -

It's our 6th annual Dogfest, a
fabulous day of fun for families with dogs, and a unique opportunity for adoptable pets to find their way into the hearts and homes of people who will love and appreciate them.

This year we will be at the Historic Park in the beautiful town of Woodcliff Lake.  Located in the parking lot right behind the historic Westervelt house there is level ground to walk on, surrounded by beautiful fields, and plenty of parking.  All located minutes away from major highways for easy access.  And did I mention trees?  In addition to the Splash Down tent for our canine friends there are lovely shady areas for all our guests to relax in.

Ruth and Hugo, who now live in West Palm Beach, FL, have this message for all dog lovers: Don't miss this year's Dogfest! Your support and good will mean the world to all of us, both two- and four-legged!!

Jessie is Open Doors' poster girl. She is the inspiration behind both Dogfest and Pets & Heroes.

Musical Sits
- Round and round you go.  Last dog to sit when the music stops goes.  The remaining dog wins!

Most Appropriate Name - What's in a name?  Actually a lot!  Does your pet have the perfect name?  This is the contest for you!

One of a Kind! - Slight underbite? big jowls?  We are looking for the truly unique.  Do you have the most unusual dog at Dogfest?

Best Kisser - This one goes without saying.  The biggest, wettest kiss wins!

Dudes and Divas - Can your dog strut their stuff?  We are looking for the pair who can walk the walk.

My Amazing Dog!
- Does your dog know a really cool trick?  Share it with us and see if you can win the Amazing dog competition.

Reverse Limbo
- Every Limbo boy and Limbo girl jump across the limbo pole.  In a new twist we are going to see just how high you can go.

Canine Look-alikes - They say couples who have been married a long time start to look alike.  We want pets and people who look alike in this contest.

Canine Idol - Can your canine rock the house?  For a howling good time bring us those pups who are hitting the high notes!

I Have Done Something

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry.

"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"

God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied. "I created you."
